Major Snowstorm Hits NYC, Roads Restricted and Flights Canceled

A powerful blizzard struck New York on Tuesday, prompting the first blizzard warning since 2017, according to the National Weather Service. About 20 inches of snow were recorded in Central Park.

City officials activated emergency snow operations and restricted vehicle traffic on major roads and select bridges. The New York City Police Department urged residents to avoid nonessential travel.

The Port Authority of New York and New Jersey reported widespread flight cancellations and delays at area airports.
