고시촌 중년의 가난과 고립

대학동이라는 낯선 이름 대학동 골목마다 빈방을 알리는 전단이 빛바래 바람에 흔들린다. 차 한 대가 겨우 다닐 좁은 골 목을 따라 오를수록 높아지는 경사만큼 전단의 방값은 내려간다. 고시촌이라 하면 문뜩 떠오르는 이곳은 서울대가 있는 관악산 아래 자리하고 있다. 2017년 사 법시험이 폐지되었고 코로나19 탓에 유학생도 줄면서 방값은 더 내려가고 방이 비면 차지 않 는다. 그 빈방을 중년들이 채우고 있다. 젊음을 던져 넣은 고시에 낙방하고 미련을 버리지 못한 채 세월이 흘러버린 고시 낭인, 더 싼 값 에 조금 더 나은 환경을 찾아다닌다. 그리고 버티기 위해 필요한 영양을 채우려고 식단관리를 하지만 주머니 사정에 비하면 터무니없는 노릇이다. 거리의 조용한 은둔자 대학동 골목의 건물은 유독 창문이 많고 에어컨..
