Thousands gathered in Times Square on Oct. 18 for the nationwide "No Kings" protest opposing former President Donald Trump. Demonstrators denounced what they described as authoritarian behavior and called for the defense of democratic institutions. Organized by grassroots and civil-rights groups, the New York rally remained peaceful, with police reporting no major incidents. Similar protests were held in Washington, Los Angeles, Chicago, Atlanta, and more than 2,000 cities across the United States.
